So I've written an article about why you should own your own blog as a student, but now I'm here to give you some tips and inspiration on what kind of content to write! Of course, it depends on what type of blog you are aiming for and what topics you'd like to talk about, but here are some general ideas!
1. News content
This is especially relevant if you'd like to pursue a career in journalism or a related field. Perhaps gather up some newsworthy content and write about it. Maybe your favourite band has released a new album and talk about how great (or maybe not so great) it is. Maybe an interesting news story has come up and you'd like to give your opinion on it. Also, bonus points if you can write unique pieces that no one else may have written, and be sure to put a creative spin on pieces that you write!
You could also interview some people that have an interesting story to tell whilst reporting any news!
2. What's it like to be a student?
Maybe you want to give advice to fellow students or starting students. Perhaps what it's like to be an international or mature student. Or, you could talk about what you enjoy about being a student or what a day is like for you. Can you recommend some stationary or useful websites? It could really help others students out there and show off your writing skills.
3. Experiences
Is there a time when you went out with your friends and had an amazing time that you can positively talk about? Did you travel a lot in your gap year or did you overcome some challenges? I think experience posts are interesting, especially when your audience can relate to them.
4. Recipes
Are there some quick and easy recipes you could publish to help other students or anyone who has some spare time on their hands at the moment? You don't have to be a professional but putting out some recipes could help and inspire many students - I know I would've needed them!
5. Talk about your goals and professional experiences
Think about a list of things you'd love to achieve this year or talk about how you felt lost on your career path and managed to pick yourself back up. Maybe talk about a work placement you really enjoyed and what you did/ found so enjoyable. It will be really great to look back at these posts in the future :)
