About me

My name is Lucy and I’m an English language and literature graduate from the UK. I have enjoyed writing and the world of journalism and publishing from a young age. I have always been interested in the world around me, specifically the arts and the creative side of life. I have been playing in many bands from a young age and taking on singing and singing exams as I’ve always loved music and performing on stage.

I didn’t have an easy time growing up as I faced a lot of criticism and bullying at secondary/high school. Despite this I have used writing as a way to help others going through similar to what I did and believe that it has made me stronger and kinder as a person. I’ve even had part of my story published in a book which I hope has been seen by many and helped them in their own journeys.

My other interests lie in travel, fashion, lifestyle, the outdoors, theatre and now books. I’ve been to over 15 countries so far and am hoping to build on that within the next couple of years.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I love creating it!

How to improve your wellbeing

Photo by  Natalie  from  Pexels I have always been someone to love talking about the importance of focusing on and improving your own mental health and well-being in order to help others. In today's blog post, I would like to share a few actions you can take in order to make improvements to your well-being overall. I am hoping to ensure this is beneficial for all! Enjoy! Take everything one day and one step at a time According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), stress is a global health epidemic. It is very common (and of course completely normal) for us to have an overwhelming amount of stress built up in our heads over certain aspects of everyday life. Someone once told me to just breathe and take everyday as it comes, rather than trying to reach perfection in a day. So, if you have 5 long essays due all in the month for example, focus on them one by one. Perhaps break down the word count instead of trying to write the essay from beginning to end. I had a...

Profile Interview: A life of a successful physics professor

Photo by  Ivy Barn  on  Unsplash Sat comfortably in the quiet dining room of my small village house, professor of medical physics, Angela Newing describes how wonderful her career journey has been and the privileges she has had along the way. She speaks in a tone that instantly hints the hard work and dedication she has put into her career along the years, mostly looking down at the table and taking herself back to the very beginning. Now living in Stroud, Gloucestershire, she tells me about working in a time when women were perhaps not encouraged to enter the world of science. Born in London during the war, Newing had an enjoyable childhood with her older brother who claims with laughter and pride that she did "everything better than him." They were inseparable. This was the start of Newing's drive and determination to lead a successful career in medical physics. "I think my first memory in Woburn, and I was fairly tiny, was when we arrived at the back d...

A Letter to my School Bullies/ 11-15 Year Old Self

"Just know that you did not fully break me" Dear bullies, Remember me? I can't believe I haven't been in touch with you to say this yet, but now its time. I struggle to know how you sleep at night, knowing the unbearable pain you caused to an innocent little girl for all those years. I just want to start off by making it clear that you have actually improved my future. Thanks to you, I've been able to work harder, inspire people, inspire myself and my friends and family. I have not been afraid to say no to opportunities that you could probably only dream of. I have become courageous, strong, and a person that you quite frankly will NEVER be. The light that you stole from that young girl has now returned and I am better and happier than I've ever been before. I'm not sure what you were hoping to achieve from the persistent laughing, name- calling, death threats and sick jokes you drowning me in, but I have created so much positivity from this like yo...
